Fort Ross Winery and Vineyards

When we first tasted Fort Ross Winery and Vineyards at California’s Family Winemakers we were certainly impressed and immediately thought the winery would make a nice choice for a red wine club because of the smaller production levels and extremely high quality. Largely thought of as the vineyard closest to the Pacific Ocean in all of California, Fort Ross uses that obviously cool climate to produce some of the most dynamic Pinot Noir in the entire state. Production sits at only two thousand five hundred cases of wine each and every year with only Pinot Noir and Chardonnay being produced in large quantities, an incredibly small amount of Pinotage and Rose are also made. Success has followed the winery from their first vintage, the higher than average acidity in these wines has captivated both consumer and wine critics, with the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir scoring at 90 points or well above in vintage after vintage.
