So every year when it is her birthday or Christmas I have problems finding a present for her. This year I was going to start look early for her birthday present. I knew my mother in law loved to work with her flowers in the garden, so I went online and did an internet search for Best Garden Gifts. I thought if I could find something for her garden she might really like the gift and use it. I know in the past she has always said she liked the present, but I noticed the other day that she had all of the gifts in her closet that I had given her over the years. That kind of hurt my feelings, so I wanted to make sure this gift was better than those.

Exactly How Does a Lawn Thatcher Work?

August 28th, 2011

One of the simplest and easiest types of lawn thatchers to use is a thatching rake. It is a small but effective lawn thatcher. In order to use this, you want to put it on the ground in front of you, and pull the rake towards you in quick thrust. This will allow you to rip out all of the snarly grass. Once you have ripped it all out from the lawn, you will want to break it up with a leaf rake and then dispose of it. Typically a thatching rake will only cost you about 25 or $30. Another way you can do it is to use a power lawn rake. A power rake will cost you a round $40 to rent, but it will be faster and easier to use. This is why most people select to use this option. Using a power rake is typically four times faster than doing it by hand. In addition, you can go over the lawn twice with a power rake and you can probably get out more than you could by spending six or seven hours going over with a hand rake.

Eco Friendly Landscaping

August 5th, 2011

To landscape an area is usually to emulate and highlight the touch of nature on the patch of land outside of your house. Almost every landscape attempts to heighten beauty of nature in that regard. In fact, with the many searing views of nature, we can hardly decide which should be placed on the landscape. For example, since many people are calmed by the presence of rivers, there are many landscapes with artificially made rivers just to suit the homeowner’s desire. There are also some people who enjoy the collection of marble statue and thus would like to have statues of their own placed on the landscape design.

There are still various ideas of emulating nature but in truth, it is the beauty of nature that is emulated and not nature itself. The birth of eco landscaping became a refreshing way of looking into landscaping without so much as harming or modifying the existing touch of nature on the land.

Its My Greenhouse

June 8th, 2011

With the food scares that are currently going on in the world, I am even more pleased that I have started to grow my own veg and fruit. All possible thanks to my brand new wooden greenhouse. On the greenhouse staging I have many young plants growing waiting for a place in the garden in the next few weeks.

I have lettuce, cabbage, carrots, beans and even a baby marrow growing. They are growing so well thanks to the sunny days we have been having in the past month. I was shocked to see that even my pepper plants, which I never had any luck growing before, are doing well. I have been watering each and every day.

Lately, I have been asked to grow some young plants for my friends and family. If there is room in there, I am happy to do this for them. However, it would make sense for them to look at getting their own wooden greenhouse.

These are just some of the styles that you could choose from, but which one you choose you are guaranteed with those better and safer outdoor activities.

Using Wind Spinners in Unexpected Settings

April 3rd, 2011

After a while you have to face the fact that there are only so many places in your yard or garden in which to set up wind spinners. You’ve got them near the tomato plants, around the hedges, and even in the potted butterfly bush on the back deck. Where are else are you going to put them?

One thing you can do is start a sort of wind spinner library. That is, lend some of your spinners to friends and neighbors. Bring one to work and set it up near the front door. Why not spread the bright colors? Why not spread some of the garden ornament whimsy?

How about using them on your sail boat? Most people use wind socks on their sailing vessels, but you can get creative and affix a spinner to the mast. For that matter, bring one to the beach with you – bring two – and set it up near your blanket. You’ll be the envy of everyone else nearby!

With a little creativity and a willingness to think outside the box you can figure out plenty of ways to expand your collection of spinning garden decorations and bring them to plenty of unexpected locations!
